Amos Kimunya resigns

Kenya’s Finance minister resigned today to pave the way for investigations into allegations of corruption in the handling of the sale of the Grand Regency Hotel.

It is reported that he made the announcement after consultations with his wife and the President, Mwai Kibaki.

  2. KImunya’s departure from treasury was long overdue. Kenyans and the parliament had shown discontent about his unlawful, haphazard disposal of public assets, the Grand Regency being the latest. It was shameful for a man of his level to swear not to resign BUT LATER CONTRADICTING HIMSELF when our pressure proved unsurmountable for him and further trying to mudsling HON J.Orengo ,the Attorney General and the PM. I give credit to our MPs who stood firm against his actions.
