Kathleen J. Wu is a partner at Andrews Kurth in Dallas. Her practice areas include real estate, finance and business transactions. She is an Asian-American lawyer and has some advice for minority lawyers, using Barack Obama as a benchmark. I think her advice applies to any minority already in or planning to enter a professional field.
Summary of her advice;
Don’t let lowered expectations equal lowered performance.
Don’t make it about race.
Being a person of color in a predominantly white profession is difficult, no doubt.
Dress better than you have to.
Thick skin is the best kind of skin.
