The 2008 Failed States Index report is out and Somalia’s perch at the top of the list comes as no surprise. Second on the list is Sudan and according to experts, this combination poses great danger to the whole East African and horn of Africa region with potential of millions lives being disrupted.

A new law in Italy will allow immigrants equal access to education and social services and is receiving praise from immigrant rights groups in that country. Following the passing of this law, 2.8 million euros have been allocated over 3 years (2008-2011) to help implement it.
