Verizon signs deal to unify Department of Homeland Security IP networks

Verizon Business has signed a USD$ 678 million deal with the Department of Homeland Security to unify the 22 separate networks within the agency into a single common IP network in an initiative known as the OneNet program. Verizon will also implement an emergency communication service to enable the agency to better respond to man-made and natural disasters.
AT&T Government Solutions also signed on as a secondary network service provider and their deal is valued at USD$ 292 million dollars.
