A report by the government of Australia links an uptick in violence against Africans in Australia directly to comments made by the former Immigration minister, Kevin Andrews, that Sudanese immigrants were failing to integrate and were engaging in crime.

After shares of the Safaricom IPO last month were were over-subscribed by 532 percent, Kenya’s Finance Minister, Amos Kimunya, has announced that the bulk of the money will be refunded.
He noted that a positive side to this was that it had opened up Kenya’s capital markets to the international financial community.

A Swede national has been arrested by Kenyan police and accused of attempting to rape a 7-year old child. The incident is reported to have happened in the south-western part of Kenya and more information is not available at this time.

Kenya Airways profits dipped by KShs 3.9 billion (USD $62.8 million) in the 12 months ending in March compared to Kshs 4 billion last year. The post-election violence that rocked Kenya in December 2007 and into the first quarter of this year is cited as the reason for this loss.
