3 young Kenyans arrested in Georgia

Ted Mbaya (left), Kevin Gitonga (center), George Mwangi (right)

These young Kenyans were arrested in Marrietta Georgia early this morning after a tipster called 911 to report that someone was trying to rob a vehicle. When the young men saw police, they took off running and Kevin Gitonga and George Mwangi were shot with stun guns before being subdued. It is not known how Ted Mbaya, a Dallas resident, was subdued. At this time, they are all in custody.

  1. shame on yu guys. yu are kenyans yu know better than that. It is so ashaming y’all. yu can do better though. i’m ashamed on your behalf.

  2. AM A KENYAN TOO Y U ASHAMED OF THEM U AINT THEIR MOM OR DAD SO Y U GIV A SHIT U NEED AINT NOTHIN TO BE ASHAMED OFF THERE ARE RIGHTS AND WRONGS IN EVERY NATION STOP THIS HOLIER THAN THOU ATTITUDE U KENYANS HAVE FAKE ASS PEOPLE JUS BE SUPPORTIVE REGARDLESS
I AINT PROUD WAT THEY DID BUT WHO ARE WE TO JUDGE

  3. Good points SHI .Yvone there is no point of being ashamed just besause someone has done something wrong. there are people out there kiling, shooting, raping, maiming from different parts of the world not just kenyans. There so many positive and successful things that kenyans excel that the media doesnt show.

  4. who is this shamiing our fellow sweet brothas, kenyas have done more gud to this country tht the media doesnt talk about. so yvonne you need to think before you judge, non of us were around when all this happened so we dont know the fact of the matter, so lets not judge, but be supportive and encouraging towards positivity. i hate this idea of kenyans coming out and acting so fake and not kenyan like, trying to make themselves look better than others. all these things we do in order to survive in this country is almost the same as what these young cute boys might have done. its all bouyt survival for the fittest.

  5. Dont sit there and condone bad behavior….no need to sugar coat. We as Africans know how we struggle to survive and are lucky to have the opportunity to better our lives/education before returning home. My mother always said: never make yourself a suspect. These days I believe we forget our culture and loose ourselves after leaving Africa. Whatever happened to finding something responsible to do?…after all a lot of people are able to find a legal source of income even though they are here illegally.
My struggles in life have brought tears to peoples eyes, but it never hindered me from doing the right thing. I agree 100% with Yvonne….we can’t classify ourselves as the typical person out there cause we aren’t. We have a culture and certain expectations to uphold.

  6. Young idiots! Now they have a criminal record over gas that wasnt even worth stealing.

  7. these ma brothers, we praying for you. it was just one wrong move from ma young brothers, so yall better stop judging them like yall never done shit b4 like shoplifting or something like that and anyway gas is like $4. am still proud i knew them and they’re still ma niggas. ted, kevo, junior tuko pamoja siwote kama wa kenya. one love.

  8. Hi!. Yep They didnt do the right thing !. But stop and think what you have done and noone show you to put you in the breaking news!!!!. Kenyan you are fake fake fake as if you dont have sister, brothers or even you own children!. Before you poing finger on this young guys correct yourself remember when you see that someone that does not belong to you that too its a sin(adulterly). All I can ask holy than thou Kenyan, reach out to young people that way i believe you can make a different. Ok!.

  9. Am a resident of Marietta and I can say first hand that am not surprised that these young men were up to such crap. These boys are the products of parents who leave kenya for greener pastures and when they get here they all but forget family values and the need to nurture children to be upright citizens of whichever country they reside in. These are parent who worked 80 hour weeks and left their children unattended for the most part. I know people have to make ends meet but I have seen parents who chose their children over their search for the almighty $$$. And I have seen parent who chose the almighty $$$ over their kids. For the latter group I have seen many issues crop up with their children – drugs, underage drinking, smallscale crime, partying, dropping out of school, pregnancies. The list is endless. And I can tell you that there are going to be many issues with this ‘generation on ‘Ameri-Kenyans’. This negelect by parents is going to haunt our community for a long time to come.

  10. dis my boyz meen prayers only thing ebu wen i see yall tutanego nawaluv

  11. They are young boys…. and have grown to belive what they realy admire.. been american and the street life…sorry lucky them they were not back home in kenya WANGECHOMWA… but it takes time to learn welcome to the world Brothers….

  12. LOOKS LIKE THEY GOT BLUNTED BEFORE THEY WERE APPREHENDED. DENY EVERYTHING AND ADMIT NOTHING

  13. For the most part I agree with Yvonne…But the real point is that “They” need to be ashamed of what they’ve done- not me ashamed for them…They are still kids in too many ways, and hopefully they will still have the chance to learn from their mistakes. I understand someone “being down on their luck”, and needing help…but there are many, many avenues for help there in Georgia, or in the states, which may not be available to them there in Kenya. Bottom line stealing is wrong-regardless of the overprice of something…They knew it was wrong when they did it, and they did not need to steal. What bothers me even more than this is that they didn’t seem to think or didn’t care about anyone else-not even about themselves…

People have likely sacrificed greatly, just for them to have the opportunity to be here in the US. They were in a position to better their lives, and perhaps better the lives of their many (supposed) loved ones…but they didn’t think or care about that, and instead threw it all away on unnecessary petty theft. I don’t know the particulars of this case, and cannot judge….But I have seen too many other young men (even & especially Muslims) come to school here in the states “to better their lives”, but instead they waste their time on partying, drinking, women, and having “fun”….Forgetting, and forsaking, everything and everyone they’ve left behind. They act like a kid in a candy store-without any self restraint-and Yes, that is a horrible, horrible shame…

~True faith comes when you practice your beliefs regardless of their being laws, or people, to force, or persuade you into doing what they say is right-but when you choose to do so simply because it’s the right thing to do…

  14. thug lyfe! welcome to COBB county. Come On Back Boy!

  15. why is everyone trying to make it seem like like they are really young and the only young bunch in the states?.Anyone above 18 is responsible for his/her actions. In this case they should be responsible for their actions. How many younger kenyan kids go to the states. How special do they think they are?Mistakes happen just hope they learn from them. But they do have to be punished even if it means time in Jail.

  16. I will have you know that yes i have lived abroad for 12 years and never have been charged.Ati shop lifting?? brother please.People like you are the ones that make young guys think its okey to do anything out there to survive, and that its okey to fuck up. No its not.Have you heard about that guy who killed himself because he was being deported?? i guess you think its okey. And is proud of him.Stop encouraging bad behaviour “e”.If they are sentenced to life will you still be proud of them then???

  17. is it really worth it?,am in kenya and would never want to live in the states, land of opportunity not any more ! those of you out there earning an honest keep, good luck.

  18. hey man, thats some crazy and fun stuff, dont let anyone judge you, you knew what you were doing, and so come on, tahst why we call it thug life, this is for you fauzia get a life and stop thinking your beta than the rest us.

  19. I am so sorry if any of you thought i was acting like um beter than all of you.I have made my mistakes in my life and i took full responsibilty of my actions. And that is what am sayig here. The three boys should face up to what is coming for them. And like Wellington said they knew what they were doing.
Thug life??do some of you think you are ‘the Game’ or in some movieor better yet somemusic video????
    God bless us all.

  20. yall ma niggas for life… hehe that shit was funny but next time be wise bout yall choices…yall know who im is…

  21. Next time you do such sh*t, do it better coz cops are
always busy looking for such crooked actions.Anyway you really had courage but don’t try doing that in Kenya or Africa!.When you hustle a hustler in Africa the return is always fire or bullet.
