Two people were killed when the Kenyan army came under fire in the Mount Elgon area. The Kenya army has been locked in a fierce battle with the Sabaot Land Defense Force since March 9.
The Western Provincial Commissioner, Abdul Mwasera, told AFP that the soldiers came under gunfire attack from a group of 16 armed people. Two were killed instantly and the remaining 14 were arrested.
He said that the government is going to establish a military base in the area to “check on the militias who might crop up after we have finished with operations.”
